BGCL Seeks Presenters for Career Day on May 12

April 26, 2016

The Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence is seeking representatives from all professions to participate in a career day on Thursday, May 12, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., at the club located at 136 Water St. in Lawrence.

Approximately 200 students in the seventh grade through high school are expected to attend the event. Presenters who wish to display handouts and any other relevant information will be provided with a six-foot table.

"Academic success is one of the cornerstones of our club, and our youth members are eager to learn about all possible career options," said Billy Robertson, operations director at the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence. In a city in which 72 percent of students graduate from high school, 96 percent of club kids graduate and pursue a college education.

"Our club staff and volunteers help youth members visit colleges and fill out applications, write their essays, and prepare for entrance exams, but this process can be particularly overwhelming for students who don't have a clear career direction," Robertson added. "There's no substitute for getting to ask about education requirements, the certification process, internship opportunities, and other general information from the professionals who actually work in their fields of interest."

RSVP to Billy Robertson at 978-683-2747, ext. 114 or brobertson@lawrencebgc.com.
