Special Programs

Supper Program

A nutritious meal is served to an average of 350 children every evening. The Keystone Club, a leadership group for members in high school, helps prepare and serve the meals as a way to give back to the Club. Volunteers are welcomed to help serve dinner.

Trips

The Club, along with volunteers, takes members to numerous trips throughout the year. These trips are rewards for kids who participate in Club activities, have a good attitude, and do well in school. Trips include Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, and Bruins games, as well as to movies, museums, plays, and many other events.

Ryan Bourque Memorial Basketball Tournament (February)

The tournament is played during one weekend at three different locations, involving more than 40 teams and approximately 450 boys and girls. All funds raised help support ABA (Academic Basketball Awareness) camp.

Awards Night (June)

On this evening, the Club recognizes its members for their accomplishments during the year. More than 300 awards are presented, including Youth of the Year and Sportsmanship honors.

Graduation Party (June)

This special program acknowledges the academic achievements of our members and alumni. We recognize those graduating from high school, college, and those who go beyond in their academic achievement.

Global Awareness Day (June)

Youth members are given the opportunity to interact with law enforcement officials and participate in workshops that address gang violence, drug and alcohol abuse, and the importance of hanging around with the right people. The main theme is to teach our members good decision-making skills.

3 on 3 Tournament at the Beacon Club (August)

This annual cookout is a fun day for kids and their families. It is held in Beacon Park, adjacent to the Beacon Club, featuring music, volleyball, relay races, and face painting in addition to a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

Back to School Dance (August)

Keeping up with the importance of education, the Club hosts a back to school dance for all members. Each member is given a backpack with school supplies.

Halloween Party (October)

500 members - along with staff - participate in this popular special program. Prizes are awarded for the most creative costume, and each child is given a bag of candy.

Thanksgiving Dinner (November)

Members are treated to a delicious turkey dinner prepared and served by numerous volunteers. The Jeannie Melucci Award is presented to a volunteer who goes above and beyond the call of duty in helping the kids and the Club.

Holiday Party (December)

Members are treated to a sit-down dinner served by volunteers and their families, as well as a wrapped Christmas present from Santa. Gifts are donated by a variety of individuals and companies within the Merrimack Valley. Without this program, over 40 percent of our members would not have a gift at all during the holiday season. The Paul Cronin Award is presented to a volunteer who goes above and beyond the call of duty to help the kids and the Club.
