BGCL Welcomes New President and Board Members
Michael B. Feinman, Esq. of Andover was elected as the new board president at the recent annual meeting of the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence (BGCL). In addition, Gail McNaughton of Andover and Tom Burkardt of Rye, N.H. were appointed to the board.
According to BGCL Executive Director Markus Fischer, board members serve as the governing body of the club, providing guidance and oversight to ensure the ability to provide critical programs focusing on academic success, healthy lifestyles, and community involvement for more than 4,400 youth members.
"We are grateful for the important contributions of time, broad experience, and perspective by these Merrimack Valley leaders for the benefit of our kids," Fischer said.
Feinman, principle of Feinman Law Offices in Andover, is a longtime board member and club supporter. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute; Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys; Massachusetts, Essex County, and Lawrence Bar Associations; Lawrence chapter of Rotary International; and Chancellor's Council for the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He previously served as counsel for BGCL, and is a former member of the Holy Family Hospital Men's Guild and the board of governors for Temple Emanuel in Andover.
Feinman received his bachelor's degree in business administration and MBA from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and his Juris Doctor degree from Western New England College School of Law.
McNaughton is an audit partner at Deloitte and Touche LLP, with 31 years of experience working with clients in a variety of industries and providing audit services to publicly and privately held companies in the retail, consumer business, and technology industries.
McNaughton is a member of Deloitte's Consumer and Industrial Products Industry Practice and was formerly Deloitte New England's Women's Initiative Leader and Alumni Program Leader. She is also a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, and the American Society of Certified Public Accountants. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Rhode Island.
Burkardt returns to the BGCL Board of Directors, where he was a longtime member and president from 2012-14. The retired entrepreneur was formerly CEO of Castle Networks, WaveSmith Networks, and BlueNote Networks. A longtime coach of youth sports, Burkardt is also on the board of directors at Lazarus House Ministries in Lawrence and is a former board member of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence. He earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and computer science from Northern Kentucky University, as well as a master's degree in applied mathematics from North Carolina State University.
"Upon returning to Lawrence to start my career, I remembered the club as a great place to meet friends - but I see it differently now, as a great place to do some good," Feinman said. "It feels good to give back to the community and associate with the incredible people who comprise the staff and community leaders that make the club work."
