Teeing Up Opportunity for Lawrence Youth: BGCL’s 2026 Golf Tournament

Beautiful weather, a packed course, and an incredible community spirit made this year’s Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence Golf Tournament a day to remember.

With 272 golfers joining us at Indian Ridge Country Club, the day brought together friends, supporters, sponsors, donors, and volunteers for a full day of golf, fun, and fundraising in support of the youth we serve. Their generosity helps provide life-changing programs, opportunities, and support for Club members

Sunny skies and mild temperatures made it an ideal day to be out on the course, setting the stage for a tournament filled with great golf, great company, and an even greater purpose. From the morning tee-off to the afternoon flight, the energy remained high as golfers enjoyed a full day of play while supporting BGCL youth.

The tournament was filled with friendly competition and memorable moments throughout the course, including a hole-in-one challenge where golfers competed for the chance to win $10,000 toward a Cadillac.

A Fun-Filled Day at Indian Ridge

The day kicked off bright and early at 6:30 a.m. with registration, breakfast, and our silent auction. Our morning flight teed off at 7:30 a.m., followed by lunch at noon and the afternoon flight beginning at 1:15 p.m.

Throughout the day, golfers enjoyed on-course snacks, refreshments, and samples from generous vendors stationed along the course. Brand tents added even more excitement, with samples from Polar Seltzer, Simple Mills, Tito’s Vodka, Un Chin de Café, and gelato from Tuscan Brands.

Golfers also enjoyed buffet lunch and dinner, along with food and refreshments throughout the course, including crackers, cheese, and fruit platters.

Golf Tournament Perks and Goodie Bags

Golfers received incredible goodie bags filled with items from generous partners, including TRESemmé shampoo, conditioner, and hairspray; Vaseline lip protectant and lotion; Dove deodorant and body wash; Don Francisco’s Coffee and K-Cups; Gimme roasted seaweed snacks; Frito-Lay chips; UNREAL chocolate bars; Little Bites muffins; Nature Nate’s honey packets; White Claw and Big Mozz koozies; Shout stain remover wipes; Khloud protein popcorn; Boom Chicka Pop kettle corn; Schär Sch’nacks snack cakes; Gin Gins ginger chews; BGCL golf cart coolers; Tito’s vodka bandanas; Surfside and White Claw tees; OFF! spray; coupons; and more.

Golfers also received bottles of olive oil and a tournament program book as part of the day’s gifts.

Raffle and Silent Auction Highlights

This year’s raffle featured 50 exciting prizes, including a pizza oven, Red Sox tickets, YETI and Coleman coolers, dartboards, range finders, speakers, coffee and beer baskets, patio chairs, a cornhole game, autographed memorabilia, TaylorMade golf balls, Titleist golf bags, golf umbrellas, beach chairs, and cases of beer.

The silent auction featured more than 50 items, including golf foursomes, coolers, sports tickets, gift baskets, autographed memorabilia, golf gear, experiences, and more. Guests had the opportunity to bid throughout the day before collecting their winning items at the end of the evening.

An Inspiring Speech from Our Youth of the Year

After a full day on the greens, participants gathered for a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner, the live auction, raffle, and awards beginning at 7:30 p.m.

One of the most powerful moments of the evening came when our Youth of the Year, Rauz O., shared her story. Her words moved the room, bringing her mother and Club staff to tears and leading to a standing ovation and heartfelt applause from everyone in attendance.

Her story was a meaningful reminder of why this tournament matters and how the support of our community directly impacts the lives of young people in Lawrence.

A High-Energy Live Auction

Rauz’s inspiring story led into our live auction, hosted by Dan Roche of WBZ-TV, a longtime Boston sports anchor and reporter.

Dan brought incredible energy, humor, and heart to the evening. His vibrant personality kept the room engaged and excited as guests raised their paddles in support of BGCL youth. The live auction featured five amazing high-value items, helping raise critical funds for the programs, resources, and opportunities that make a lasting difference for Club members.

One of the night’s most meaningful live auction moments came during our “In With Kids – Sponsor a Child” appeal, where guests had the opportunity to directly support a child’s experience at the Club. For $500, sponsors help provide meals, mentorship, academic support, and a safe place to grow for a child who might not otherwise have access to these vital services. The response was incredible and truly heartwarming.

The night ended with raffle winners being announced and receiving their prizes, while silent auction items were collected by the highest bidders and guests celebrated the success of an unforgettable tournament.
