This year’s Summer PB FunFest was an unforgettable day filled with sunshine, smiles, learning, and nonstop fun!
With beautiful weather setting the scene, our kids enjoyed a full day of exciting activities, hands-on demonstrations, and special guests, including the Massachusetts State Police, Lawrence Police Department’s Emergency Response Team, Lawrence Fire Department, and helicopter pilots who helped bring the day to life.
Hands-On Summer Fun
The fun kicked off with a creative, hands-on activity that was a huge hit with our kids: making their own slime! Kids mixed, stretched, and played with their colorful creations, adding a messy and memorable start to a day full of summer fun.
Learning Lifesaving Lessons
The day also included an eye-opening seatbelt safety demonstration from the Massachusetts State Police. Our kids had the chance to ask thoughtful questions, learn lifesaving tips, and see firsthand why buckling up every ride matters.
An Exciting K-9 Demonstration
The excitement continued with the Lawrence Police Department’s Emergency Response Team, who gave an incredible K-9 demonstration. Kids watched as highly trained police dogs showed how they assist officers in keeping our community safe. It was exciting, educational, and definitely a crowd favorite!
Gearing Up, ERT Style
Kids also had the chance to try on some of the ERT team’s gear, giving them an up-close look at the equipment officers use in the field. It was a fun, hands-on way to learn more about the important work the team does to help keep our community safe.
Inside the Mobile Command Center
Kids also got the exciting opportunity to step inside the Lawrence Police Department’s Mobile Command Center. They were able to explore the space, ask questions, and get a behind-the-scenes look at one of the tools officers use to help coordinate emergency response and keep our community safe.
Memories to Take Home
Inside, kids posed in front of a green screen with a summer-themed digital backdrop and took home printed photos as a special keepsake from the day.
Games, Bouncing, and Basketball
The gym was full of energy, with kids bouncing, laughing, and burning off energy in the inflatable bouncy house. They also enjoyed shooting hoops and playing basketball with their friends.
A Summer Lunch Everyone Loved
Of course, no summer celebration is complete without a great lunch! Kids enjoyed pizza, grapes, chips, chocolate milk, and ice cream sandwiches to cool off during a fun-filled summer day.
We were also happy to serve lunch to the cadets, police officers, firefighters, and everyone who helped make the day so special.
The Excitement Took Off
After lunch, the excitement really took off — literally! Kids watched a helicopter land right before their eyes, met the pilots, asked great questions, and learned what it’s like to fly.
Many even connected what they’ve learned through our flight simulation technology to seeing a real helicopter in action, making the experience even more exciting and meaningful.
Fire Truck Fun
The Lawrence Fire Department also joined the fun, bringing a fire truck for an exciting demonstration. Kids got to walk through the truck, learn more about the equipment firefighters use, and even take turns spraying a real fire hose. It was such a fun and memorable experience!
A Huge Thank You
From slime and bouncy houses to K-9s, fire trucks, safety demonstrations, and a helicopter landing, this year’s Summer PB FunFest was packed with fun, learning, and community connection.
