A Hole-in-One for Our Kids: Highlights from the BGCL 2025 Golf Tournament

On Monday, June 16, 2025, the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence hosted its 46th Annual Golf Tournament at the beautiful Indian Ridge Country Club in Andover, MA—and what a day it was! From early morning tee times to evening awards, the event was a true celebration of community, generosity, and the life-changing work we do every day at BGCL.

The weather was perfect, the course was buzzing with energy, and every swing of the club helped support a cause greater than the game itself. With over 2,000 youth served by our Club, the funds raised from this tournament go directly toward vital programs like nightly meals for over 400 kids, daily homework help, swim lessons, music, academic basketball, and so much more.

From Tee Time to Dinnertime: A Full Day of Impact

The day kicked off at 6:30 a.m. with registration, breakfast, and our silent auction. Our morning flight teed off at 7:30 a.m., followed by a second wave of golfers after lunch at noon, and an afternoon flight start at 1:15 p.m. In between shots, players enjoyed on-course snacks and refreshments, with vendors stationed along the way to keep spirits high.

After a full day on the greens, participants gathered for a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner, live auction, raffle, and awards beginning at 7:30 p.m. The energy stayed high into the evening, with the grand raffle drawing winners and cheers around 8:30 p.m.

What’s in Your Bag?

Our golfers were welcomed with a BGCL goodie bag filled with snacks, drinks, and useful self-care items for them to enjoy both on and off the course. At registration, players also received a printed program, a sample of extra virgin olive oil, and a pack of high-quality golf balls—just a few small touches to kick off a great day on the green.

Food, Vendors, and More

Throughout the day, golfers were treated to an impressive array of food and vendor experiences. Tuscan Brands kept everyone cool with mouthwatering gelato, Milton’s Pizza served up hot, cheesy slices, and Tito’s Vodka refreshed guests with their signature samples. Big Mozz was also a major crowd-pleaser, handing out crispy, golden mozzarella sticks that hit the spot. A full buffet lunch and dinner were served to all participants, keeping energy high and bellies full from the first drive to the last putt.

A Powerful Message from Argenis L., Our 2025 Youth of the Year

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening came when Argenis, our 2025 Youth of the Year, delivered a heartfelt speech about the impact the Club has had on his life. His story was filled with strength, gratitude, and hope—and left everyone in the room inspired. Argenis reminded us why we were all gathered there: to invest in young people—because when we do, we don’t just change their path, we unlock their potential and empower them to lead, dream, and rise.

This uplifting message was the perfect lead-in to our In With Kids – Sponsor a Child opportunity, giving guests the chance to turn their inspiration into direct, lasting impact.

Live Auction & In With Kids Program

The evening continued with our live auction, hosted by the charismatic Dan Roche, who brought humor and enthusiasm to the room. Attendees bid on a curated selection of unique items and experiences, all in support of the Club’s mission. One of the night’s most impactful moments came during the “In With Kids – Sponsor a Child” appeal, where guests had the opportunity to directly support a child’s experience at the Club. For $500, sponsors help provide meals, mentorship, academic support, and a safe place to grow for a child who might not otherwise have access to these vital services. The response was incredible—and truly heartwarming.
