Max Lopez embodies the heart, hustle, and hope of the Boys & Girls Club.
We’re proud to welcome Max Lopez as this year’s Alumni Speaker at our Annual Auction event on Saturday, April 5 at the Andover Country Club! Once you hear more of his story, you’ll understand why he’s the perfect voice to inspire us on this special night.
Max first walked through the doors of the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence in the late '80s—and he’s never stopped giving back. A 1992 Club alumnus, Max went on to earn his degree in Business from UMass Lowell, build a successful 25-year career in tech, and now works as a pre-sales engineer at a software company in California.
But Max’s story goes far beyond professional success—he’s a devoted husband, a proud father to two accomplished children (both Club alumni!), and a passionate mentor committed to lifting up the next generation.
From mentoring at the Club to supporting Black youth through the nonprofit We Will All Rise, Max continues to invest his time and heart into the community. As a mentor with the organization, he works closely with a cohort of 15 high school students—guiding them through the college application process, helping them build confidence, and preparing them for life beyond graduation.
His story is a full-circle journey—one fueled by the example set for him right here at BGCL.
“I’m just trying to replicate what I saw Steve Kelly, Karen, Maureen, and Billy do for us,” Max says. “They went above and beyond to teach us about hard work and giving back.”
