On the weekend of July 11–13, eight incredible Keystone members (ages 16–18) escaped to the Cape for a weekend of fun, laughter, and connection—an unforgettable two-night getaway made possible by the generosity of the New England Food Foundation.
Supervised by two of our dedicated staff members, Rebecca Dixon and Juneidy Santana, the group made the most of their stay at The Cape House—a charming and spacious home with its own private beach, generously provided each year by the New England Food Foundation. Designed for fun and connection, the house includes everything from a basketball and volleyball court to a playground, two cozy living rooms, a full wall of games, and even a basement stocked with snacks and essentials. It’s the perfect place for our teens to unwind, bond, and build lasting memories—and we’re incredibly grateful to NEFF for making it all possible.
Celebrating Commitment
This trip wasn’t just a vacation—it was a reward. Each of the youth invited to the retreat earned their spot by staying active at the Club and completing their community service requirements through Keystone, our teen leadership and civic engagement program. Their dedication to giving back is what made this weekend possible.
Weekend Highlights
Friday:
The group arrived Friday afternoon, excited and ready to settle in. After grocery shopping for necessities and choosing their sleeping spots, they kicked off the weekend with pizza and downtime to unwind.
Saturday:
Saturday morning started strong with a homemade breakfast of pancakes, eggs, bacon, and toast. Then it was straight to the beach—just steps from the backyard—for a refreshing swim. One of our very own Keystone members, a certified swim instructor, even taught a fellow member how to swim for the first time. (Talk about leadership in action!)
After drying off, the crew headed out for a fun afternoon at the Cape Cod Mall, followed by bowling, and a delicious dinner at a local tavern. Back at the house, they cranked up the music, baked brownies, danced, and laughed the night away.
Sunday:
On Sunday morning, they packed up, cleaned, and said goodbye to the Cape House—grateful for the memories made and bonds strengthened.
Until Next Summer…
The Cape House is more than just a beautiful space—it’s a chance for our teens to step outside their routines, grow closer as leaders, and enjoy the kind of carefree joy every young person deserves.
And the best part? Our swim team is set to head to Cape Cod over Labor Day weekend for their own fun-filled retreat. Stay tuned for more stories and smiles to come!
Thank you to the New England Food Foundation for giving our members these moments to remember. Because of you, our youth get to explore, unwind, and build memories that last a lifetime. We can’t wait to do it all again next summer!
