🎃 Halloween at the Club: A Spooktacular Afternoon of Fun!

From the moment the clock struck 3:00 PM, the Club was officially under our spell—costumes filled the halls, and every room became its own little haunted hub of fun. Laughter echoed through the building as the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence transformed into a Halloween wonderland where imagination ran wild, friendly competition took center stage, and every moment brought smiles and surprises.

Kids enjoyed pizza, chips, and milk before diving into a whirlwind of games and activities to earn Club Bucks—the Club’s own currency used to purchase items from the Club Store. From sports challenges to silly stunts, every game was packed with energy and excitement.

In the gym, stations buzzed with activity. Kids tested their aim in the Football Throw and Basketball Shot. They jumped their way through the bouncy house with slide and stepped into the Money Box, trying to catch as many Club Bucks as they could while bills swirled through the air. They also took on Bobbing for Worms—digging through whipped cream to find sour gummy worms without using their hands.

In the Games Room, members showed off their moves on the Dance Machine and took on the Half Dollar Pool, which tested focus and precision. BINGO brought out lucky winners in the homework room, the Donut-Eating Contest was as hilarious as it was messy, and the photo booth gave everyone a chance to capture their spooky side against fun Halloween backdrops.

Haunted Musical Chairs took center stage in the Dance Room, where our dance instructor Kathy transformed the space with spooky-cool Halloween décor from floor to ceiling. Kids played in the dark to eerie, pulsing music—shrieks, giggles, and quick dashes for the last open seat turning the room into a little haunted theatre of fun.

The highlight of the evening was the costume contest, where creativity stole the show. From superheroes to spooky skeletons, looks ranged from DIY masterpieces to store-bought favorites—each bursting with personality. Divided by age groups and gender, the competition was fierce—so much so that our four volunteer judges had a tough time picking the winners! Each first, second, and third place winner took home a trophy, and every member left with a bag of candy and a smile.

To cap it all off, our Dance Team hit the floor with a high-energy performance that had everyone cheering—a fangtastic ending to our Halloween celebration.

It was a frightfully fun afternoon filled with laughter, friendship, and imagination—proof that at the Club, Halloween is more than just costumes and candy. It’s about celebrating together, cheering each other on, and making memories that last long after the last piece of candy is gone. 👻✨
